Youth Project: Human Trafficking

Human trafficking is happening in communities across Canada, but you have the power to help stop it.

Learn, Recognize, Share – Save Lives!

Join SWIS workers and youth leaders from ISGW as well as guest speakers from local organizations for a series of five workshops to learn about human trafficking, prevention and supports.

February 2: Jaseth from Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis on the process of human trafficking.

February 9: Director of the Sexual Assault Centre, Guelph General Hospital on how to provide support to victims of human trafficking and how the hospital supports its victims.

February 16: speaker to be confirmed

February 23: Sarah Bowers-Peter, Program Coordinator, Crime Stoppers Guelph-Wellington on
the process of reporting crime through Crime Stoppers.

March 2: Melanie Dewar, Human Trafficking Officer, Guelph Police Service on cybersecurity and how to remain safe on the internet.

Participation is open to high school students. Workshops will take place in person at ISGW:

4:30 pm – 5:30 pm

Learning how to recognize the signs of trafficking and sharing your knowledge with others can save lives.
