ORIENTATION AND REFERRAL

Our counsellors can help you apply for…

  • all the necessary documents needed for the first few weeks after arrival
  • a health card; an affordable bus pass
  • entitled federal and provincial benefits
  • children’s dental program; Trillium drug plan
  • retirement pensions
  • a PR card, citizenship, a Canadian passport and travel documents
  • replacement of a lost or damaged record of landing

Our counsellors can refer you to…

  • the child care subsidy program
  • language instruction
  • housing support and other community services

Our counsellors can help you…

  • find a family doctor
  • contact government agencies to advise them of a change of address
  • with employment counselling and job-search skills
  • enrol in school and training programs
  • with advocacy; understand your rights, entitlements, and responsibilities

Information sessions
We are pleased to host a variety workshops and information sessions for newcomers throughout the year. These sessions are an excellent opportunity for clients to gain valuable knowledge around topics of specific interest to them. For a list of upcoming sessions, please view our calendar.


Ask your settlement counsellor how to apply for the Free to Grow Program. The program funds recreational and life-skill opportunities such as sports, arts, camps, driver’s education training and leadership development. Funding is for children and youth, ages 0 to 18, who live in Guelph and Wellington County, whose families meet the eligibility guidelines.
