EMPLOYMENT READINESS PROGRAM

We recognize that newcomer and refugee communities are central to advancing Canada’s economic potential. They bring much needed skills and experience that strengthens the workplace and enhances the economy’s overall vitality. Our employment services help prepare clients for financial independence. We meet one-on-one with clients (by appointment) to provide:

  • employment needs assessment and referrals
  • resume critique and development
  • assistance with career pathways planning, job search and interview skills

ISGW hosts a variety of employment-related group information and training sessions throughout the year. Topics for youth include:

  • Canadian workplace culture, employment rights in Ontario
  • resume writing, job search techniques and interview practise
  • worker health & safety training
  • cash register/customer service training
  • first aid training
  • computer skills training

Topics open to all include:

  • starting a home-based business
  • self-employment/entrepreneurial opportunities
