The SWIS team is training youth Peer Leaders to welcome new high school students to their schools during two Newcomer Orientation Week events this September. During these events, Peer Leaders will help newcomer students navigate their new school, learn school routines and provide information about accessing resources in the school and the wider community.
As a Peer Leader you will:
- engage in leadership building activities
- help newcomer peers transition to a new school
- help build a sense of community in schools
- earn volunteer hours (by attending training and NOW events)
- receive a Peer Leader certificate from ISGW
