National Volunteer Week 2022
Let’s All Celebrate Canada’s Volunteers!
We’re celebrating National Volunteer Week 2022 with Volunteer Canada because we know that Volunteers Bring Heart to Canada’s communities!
At Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington, we welcome volunteers to our growing organization and highly value the contribution our volunteers make. We rely on their support to run our online classes and English Conversation Circles. Their commitment makes a difference in the lives of our newcomer clients. We’re grateful for volunteers like, Jaber!

Hello, my name is Jaber, and I am a graduate student at the University of Guelph studying the effects of cold temperatures and ice encasement on winter wheat.
I began volunteering at Immigrant Services Guelph-Wellington in the summer of 2021 because I wanted to use my time and knowledge to help others within my community. One way to help others was through teaching English to newcomers within our community through one-on-one English conversation practice and group conversation practice. I believe learning English makes a huge difference in the lives of new community members as it allows them to make new friends and become more engaged in their community.
